Grassrunners FC export, Emmanuel Chukwu has continued to make significant and steady progress towards becoming one of the best young most sought -after defenders in Europe, as he grabs another impressive game under his belt for his on loan Austrian club, AC Wolfsberger.
The 18 – year old defender came in as a 61st minute substitute in his club’s 2-1 loss to league leaders, RB Salzburg in a highly intriguing encounter. But despite playing for just the last 29 minutes of the game, Chukwu did well enough to convince his coaches that he deserves a starting shirt next time.
His reading and understanding of the game were just as good as his timely tackles, as he displayed good awareness and confident composure throughout the period he was on.
The intelligent centre back was part of the last Flying Eagles squad to the U20 AFCON in Egypt where he started in all their matches in the tournament.
Chukwu joined Wolfsberger on loan from German side, TSG Hoffenheim in search of more playing opportunities.
He had featured in previous games against LASK Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga and in a cup game earlier in the season which captures his gradual progression.
