The candidate
of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) , Asue Ighodalo, has reached out to other contestants in just concluded Edo PDP primary election.
Ahead of of the State governorship election scheduled for
September 21, Ighodalo
on Tuesday begged the Deputy
Governor, Phillip Shaibu; Anslem Ojisha, Osaro Onaiwu and
others, who vied for the ticket
to please work with him for the
success of his aspiration.
Ighodalo spoke at the PDP
national secretariat when he
received his certificate of return in Abuja.
Ighodalo said: “I thank my
co-aspirants, all of them, from
those who were the first to step
down for me at the very early
stages, whom I believe were
very important to the process,
they gave me even more confidence in the process and even
more confidence in myself and
I want to thank all of them.
“I would like to thank those
who did not step down for me
on the day of the primary. It is
good to contest, now the contest
is over and as I have asked most
of them, please I am begging
you, let us come together as
one and I will continue begging
because it is critical that Edo
State will and shall remain a
PDP state.
“That will become much
easier if we work together as
one team and we will by the
grace of God Almighty work
together as one team. I will continue begging, we must unite
and most of my elders will
join me, my NWC will join me
in begging all the co-aspirants.
“After the contestations,
sometimes people feel some
hurt but I promise you that this
victory is for all of us. We will
all together be the governor of
Edo State. I will take your advice, we will work together, we
will solicit together and we will
be working as one. The more
hands we get, the better we
perform. Each and every one
of you has great attributes, if
we bring all those attributes together for Edo State, the state
will fly higher. So I beg each
and everyone of you, let’s come
together as one. If we come together as one, Edo State will be
totally PDP.
“We will come together as
one, we will keep talking, we
will keep engaging, we will
keep interacting and by the
grace of God we will achieve
the best for our party.”
While carrying out the presentation of the certificate of
return, the Acting National
Chairman of the party, Amb.
Umar Damagum, said the party has fulfilled all righteousness, adding that the most
important thing now is to win
election.
“Edo is PDP, but you still
have a daunting task before us.
Let Edo be an easy ride for us.
Ighodalo is a good brand with
a good party.
“Let me also say this, PDP
is one, we had one primary in
Edo, we sent an electoral panel,
election held and candidate in
person of Ighodalo emerged.
“We are not aware of any
parallel election outside the
one that produced Ighodalo,”
Damagum added.
