The Elections into local football council offices in Edo state was held on Wednesday August 23rd 2023 across the three senatorial Districts of the state, as various positions were filled by the qualified candidates.
In Edo south the contestants and delegates from the seven Local Government Area, converged as early as 9am at the Media centre of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin city for the much awaited elections.
At the end of the peaceful excesise, chairmen, vice chairmen and members were elected into the various local Football councils. Chinedu Uba was elected the chairman for Egor Local council, ikpoba okha local council seat went to Osasinmwin Aighobayi, just as Douglas Idahosa was Elected oredo local council boss. Austine Ogieriakhi won the championship position for Orhionmwon local council, while David Omoruyi took ovia south west local council seat. Other Elected chairmen were Inonoje Roland Ovia North East, and Bazuaye Esosa Pius was Elected chairman for Uhunwode local council.
In Edo Central, the Elections took place at the secretariat of Esan West local government area, were the contestants and delegates from the five local government Area were accredited for the task of the day.
At the end of the Election that was peaceful, Osasuyi Emmanuel was Elected as chairman for Esan south East local football council by the delegates, while Omoba Aifua won Esan central local council seat. Friday Ehiagwina and Maxwell Akowe won the championship positions for Esan North East, and Igueben local councils, and James Osebumen was duely Elected the chairman for Esan West local football council.
The local Football council Elections in Edo North senatorial District of state was inconclusive. The Electoral committee and the Edo State Football Association will Come up with a decision soon.
Meanwhile, The State FA Elective Congress will hold on August 29th 2023 in Benin city.
