Barrister Paul Edeh is now the chairman of Benue State Football Association (BSFA) following the election of the state’s FA where he emerged winner with a landslide victory.

Edeh, President of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), at the weekend, dusted Coach Godwin Uwua to  emerge the chairman of Benue State Football Association.

In a resounding show of loyalty, 28 of the the 29 delegates voted overwhelmingly to oust former holder and ex-Super Eagles assistant coach Godwin Uwua, a former Super Eagles assistant coach and Flying Eagles coach who score just one vote.

Msugh Aga, committee chairman of the Benue State FA Electoral Congress FA Elective Congress, returned Edeh elected at an event graced by the Deputy Governor of the State Dr Sam Ode.

Addressing journalists shortly  after taking oath of office, Edeh reiterated that his vision to transform football in the State from cadet to senior level would soon be realized, adding that his victory attests to the trajectory of his grassroots programmes in football.

“When I declared my interest, I ask you to trust me and you, the delegates  had demonstrated this today. For all those that supported me I thank you. I want to single out my mother  Rt Hon. Margaret Icheem who kept the round-leather game moving in the state through out the last 12 years. Thank you so much for trusting me I will never let you down,” he assured.

According to Edeh “our vision to oversee and administer football in the most professional way while swiping away any corrupt tendencies in the running of football in the state is a task that must be done.”

The Ratels Football Foundation president also made a donation of 10,000,000 naira to the FA. He also donated a Sienna Car to the FA while announcing a sponsorship package worthy over 10 million naira towards training and re-traing of referees and coaches in the state.

Earlier, Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, represented by the deputy governor, Dr. Sam Ode, who declare the Elective Congress open, said Benue State deserves sports administrators that would uplift football in the state.

10 other candidates were returned elected into other positions of the Benue.
