Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the former Military Governor of defunct South Eastern State, Maj.-Gen. Paul Omu (rtd), on his 83rd birthday, which was on Friday, July 1.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, in Asaba, which was made available to newsmen on Saturday, the governor described the octogenarian as a distinguished military officer, elder statesman and administrator per excellence.
Góvernór Oborevwori said that Gen. Omu had an illustrious military career, which saw him through strategic leadership positions as Military Governor of South-Eastern State (1975-1978), Commandant, Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State and member of the Armed Forces Ruling Council.
Oborevwori rejoiced with family members, friends, the people of Igbide and Isoko nation on the occasion of the 83rd birthday anniversary of Gen. Omu, the former Chairman, Governing Board of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru – Jos from 2009 to 2016.
According to the statement: “Gen. Omu served the nation meritoriously with his wealth of knowledge, wisdom and experience and upon retirement, he heeded the call of his Isoko people to serve as President General of the Isoko Development Union (IDU).
“As a government, we will continue to appreciate his wise counsel at all times, especially as our nation is plagued with a plethora of security challenges.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate our father and leader, Maj.-Gen. Paul Ufuoma Omu (rtd), on the joyous occasion of his 83rd birthday anniversary.
“At 83, I join your family and indeed, your associates and admirers in thanking Almighty God for granting you a life of great accomplishments and abiding fulfillment,” Oborevwori added.
