An Ifo High Court, Ogun State, presided by honourable Justice N. O. Durojaiye has on March 31, 2023 delivered judgment in favour of Messrs Chief Muraina Bankole and Mr. Femi Bankole on the behalf of the entire family who are Defendants to the Suit no. HCT/145/2004 over a large expanse of land situated on both sides of Ibogun-Coker road at Oke-Oko Village, Ifo, Ogun State.
According to the judgement delivered and the copy made available to DAILY INDEPENDENT, reads in part that; “A declaration that the 1st and 2nd Defendants’ family is entitled to the customary Right of Occupancy or statutory Right of Occupancy over all that vast parcel of land situated, lying and being at and around Ifo High School, Olose Village, along Coker-Ibogun Road, Ifo and which is verged Red in the dispute Survey plan No. ECE/LIT/002/2005/OG dated 10th of October, 2005.”
The judgement further reads; ‘An Order of forfeiture against the claimants on the parcel of measuring approximately 20,238 acres of land situates lying and being at and around Oke-Oko, Ifo, Ogun State which was granted to the claimants’ family under customary tenure by the 1st and 2nd Defendants’ family and of which the claimants have committed acts inconsistent with the 1st and 2nd Defendants’ family title by challenging their overload IS HEREBY GRANTED.
The judge according to the judgement paper therefore awarded Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00) damages against the claimants for trespasses on the 1st and 2nd Defendants’family land.
The head of the Bankole Family, Chief Muraina Bankole who spoke with Journalists on behalf of the family said, the family will be executing the Court judgement along with members of the Nigerian Police from the week of this publication, advising the general public and anyone with one form of business or the order on the land to desist henceforth or call Chief Bankole to express their desires.
