Tobi Amusan won Heat 5 of the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary, with a time of 12.48 seconds to qualify for the semifinal, thus started her title defence with a win.

Starting in lane four of Heat 5, the 26-year-old dusted other competitions when she crossed the finish line at 12.48s to win the race.

Australia’s Michelle Jenneke, who clocked 12.71s and Natalia Christofi of Cyprus, who clocked 2.90s, also qualified for the next round.

Recall that the Amusan was cleared to defend her title last week when the Athletics Integrity Unit appeals panel found that she had not violated anti-doping rules, despite missing three whereabouts tests in 12 months.
