Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, might have fulfilled his ambition of lifting the Scudetto with Napoli but the prolific forward broke a couple of record.

According to a report from Braceradio.com, while Napoli is still basking in the euphoria of their first scudetto title in 33 years, the effort of their Nigerian export and record signing Osimhen would never go unnoticed, as Brace Radio highlight six major personal achievements of Osimhen in the title-winning season of his club side.

    1. With 22 goals and still counting, Osimhen has become the most prolific African goalscorer in a single season in the Serie A overtaking Samuel Eto’o’s 21 goals in the 2010/2011 season.

    2. He’s also the 2nd Nigerian player to win the Scudetto title after Obafemi Martins won it with Inter Milan. Martins won in the 2005/2006 season.

    3. 46 Serie A goals – Osimhen has Equalled George Weah’s record as the most prolific African player in Italy. While George Weah scored his 46 goals in 114 games, Osimhen has scored his 46 goals in less than 80 games

    4. With 22 Serie A goals and 3 goals ahead of his nearest challenger Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan in the Golden Boot race, The 24-year-old Osimhen is en route to becoming the first-ever African player to lead Serie A in scoring.

    5. On 11 November, he scored a goal and assisted another to help Napoli win 2–1 at Atalanta, becoming Nigeria’s highest goal scorer in the Italian Serie with 32 goals, and surpassing Simy’s record of 31.

    6. Victor Osimhen is the first Nigerian player to score a hat-trick in the Italian top-flight, he achieved this feat when Napoli thrashed Sassuolo at the Diego Maradona stadium on October 29, 2022.
