In every thriving society, leadership and service form the bedrock of progress. Individuals who go beyond the call of duty to impact their communities deserve not just commendation, but formal recognition. Ajiboye Akande, Personal Assistant to the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, exemplifies the kind of leadership, dedication, and selfless service that merit formal acknowledgment by organizations committed to workers’ welfare, such as the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), Oyo State Chapter.

Speaking during the award presentation, the chairman of the union, Akinola Akinbola Mayor said Ajiboye Akande has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership in engaging with diverse stakeholders on issues affecting power infrastructure and utility services that touch the lives of workers, including those in industrial sectors like mining.

“His capacity to translate policy into meaningful communication bridges the gap between government initiatives and the grassroots realities of workers. In his interactions with unions, including NUMW, Akande has shown a deep understanding of workers’ concerns and articulated them with clarity and empathy to decision-makers at the highest levels of government,” said the NUMW Chairman.

He added that Ajiboye Akande’s efforts extend beyond bureaucratic duties. “He has been actively involved in dialogues that prioritize safe working conditions, access to reliable power, and improved welfare packages for our members. For mine workers in Oyo State, stable electricity is not just a convenience, it is central to operational efficiency, workplace safety, and economic sustainability.”

For his leadership, advocacy for workers’ welfare, commitment to collaborative engagement, promotion of transparency, and unwavering dedication to public service, Ajiboye Akande unquestionably deserves recognition from the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), Oyo State Chapter. Such an award would not only honor his contributions but also reinforce the values of partnership and service that drive progress for workers and communities alike.
