The Bayelsa State Football Association (BSFA) extends heartfelt condolences to the Delta State Football Association (DFA) and the Ndidi Family on the passing of the father of Super Eagles Captain, Wilfred Ndidi, weeks after leading Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The State regulatory body in a condolence message signed by Mr Diseye Nwankwe, the Secretary of the association extends its heartfelt condolences to Wilfred, the bereaved family, and the people of Umunede, urging them to take solace in the deceased’s impactful life and legacy.
He described the passing of the late Sunday as sudden, painful and a great loss, not only to the Ndidi family but also to the Umunede community and the entire Nation.
According to him, the late Sunday Ndidi’s modest beginnings and honesty left a lasting impression on those who knew him, stating that death is a huge loss to the Delta State Football Association, DFA
“There is no doubt that Sunday’s modest beginnings and honesty greatly impacted those who looked up to him for inspiration,” he said.
”We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer, Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal tragic accident,” Nwankwe stated.
Mr. Nwankwe prayed that God grant the family the fortitude to bear their irreparable loss.
