    Bayelsa Agog as Gov Diri Leads Gusau, Dikko, Olapade and other Dignitaries to Prosperity Cup Final.

    The crème de la crème of Nigeria football and stakeholders in the sports sector will converge on Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital for the final of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup.

    This was contained in a statement signed by the Director General of the tournament, Mr. Ono Akpe on behalf of the Central Organizing Committee, COC, ahead of the showdown slated for Friday 13th, June 2025 at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

    The statement notes that the excitement with both men and women’s third place matches on Thursday, 12th June, 2025 has hit its peak as Bayelsa United Feeders FC of Yenagoa battles former champions, Crusaders FC of Ekeremor while the women’s third place match will see Bayelsa Stars Queens FC of Yenagoa up against Bayelsa State College of Nursing Sciences, BYSCON Queens at 1.00pm at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

    According to the statement, the grand finale of the spectacle will come up on Friday 13th June, 2025 with the women’s final between Afini Ladies FC entertaining Ezougha Soccer Academy. In the men’s final, Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC will lock horns with Advance Dreams FA in the clash of titans with proceeding starting at 1.00pm.

    The statement notes that Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri will be the chief host, Deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is the host while the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau is the Special Guest of Honour for the showdown.

    It explains further that, Mallam Shehu Dikko, chairman National Sports Commission would be chairman of the occasion, Director General National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olapade is also expected in Yenagoa.

    The statement equally explains that the chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman Nigeria National League, NNL, Mr.George Aluo, Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Nationwide League One, Olushola Ogunnowo, Chief Executive Officer of the NNL, Mr. Emmanuel Attah and Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Mr. Danlami Alanana are all expected at the finals.

    It notes that there will a pre-match meeting on Wednesday 11th June, 2025 for both third place teams and finalists in preparation for the finals.

    Also expected is NFF Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen, former Bendel Insurance Head coach, Monday Odigie, Rivers United Technical Adviser Finidi George, Akwa United coach Kennedy Boboye and other top coaches in the country.

    Other top dignitaries expected in Yenagoa are Alhaji Adeniyi Adewale, Controller General; Nigeria Customs Service, Engr Felix Ogbe; Executive Secretary, NCDMB; Managing Director Premium Trust Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Emefienem while the Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali is co-host.

    The statement equally invites all sports lovers, fans, football teams, coaches and the public for the final as over half a million naira would be won in the Prosperity Cup raffle draw.
