Arsenal are close to their second signing of the summer as they get closer to reaching an agreement for Ajax defender, Jurrien Timbers, but they will have to be wary of the interest from EPL rival, Manchester United.
Sports journalist, Florian Plettenberg has claimed that there is a verbal agreement between the 22-year-old Netherlands international defender and the Gunners over a move while they will now have to find an agreement with Ajax.
Several sources have now corroborated this report, but Manchester United are also said to have an agreement with the player, who is also said to be more inclined towards moving to the Old Trafford.
But Arsenal have moved quickly as the Red Devils continue to drag their foot and have agreed personal terms, with the player now wanting to move to the Emirates Stadium, which is hugely encouraging for the Gunners.
Now, of course, Ajax will want Arsenal to pay the transfer fee that they want, but at least the Gunners have already convinced the youngster, who can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back, is expected about a potential move to the North London club.
Ajax are have placed a €50 moll price on the player while Arsenal’s €30 million bid was reportedly rejected, but the two clubs are expected to meet half way to get a deal done.
Tottenham Hotspur are looking at bringing in at least one defender after signing a goalkeeper and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba looks like the real deal. The 24yrs old is a target for Spurs as they look to bring in a new defender for Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham will engage in talks with Leverkusen and Tapsoba’s agent in the coming days to get the ball rolling. Report from England claims that a new defender who can slot in the left-side of the back three is seen as a priority for Spurs and Postecoglou.
