The weeklong Nigeria Archery Federation organized 2026 National Open Archery championship,/ training ended on Sunday 26 April, 2026 in Abuja with Zen Archery Club/the Lagos state Archery Association emerging the overall Champions with 6 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals to pick the giant trophy.
He louded the technical officials for their commitment while assuring them of the federation’s commitment to take Nigeria Archery to the next next level in terms of development but quick to add that all hands must be on deck to achieve that.
The championship was used as a ranking programme for Nigeria Archers and to select Nigeria standing team for Continental and global championships like the forthcoming 2026 African Archery Championship in Algeria.
The NAFED President gave special thanks to the championship Media Committee for the overwhelming publicity that the event received and promised that the sacrifice and commitment would not be taken for granted neither has it gone unnoticed.
He charged the archers to ensure that the standard of opposition exhibited at chamioship is maintained.
Also speaking was the Vice President, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu who praised the NAFED Secretary General, Mr. Ayo Philips and the Deputy Secretary General, Hon, Goodman Akwu for working round the cloth to ensure that there was no failure.
However, the Vice President who was down with malaria in the course of the championship, deserves commendations for his resilience and commitment for not allowing the malaria that knocked him down in the course of the championship stop him from carrying out his responsibilities as chairman of the Marketing/Sponsorship Committee for the championship.
