for the African Senior
Athletics Championships holding in Douala, Cameroon.
100mh World record holder,
Tobi Amusan, heads the list re-
leased by AFN after the National
Trails which ended Tuesday in
Benin City.
Sprint queen, Favour Ofili,
Ese Brume (who did not com-
pete at the National Trials),
Temitope Adeshina, Rosemary
Chukwuma, Tima Godbless,
Sade Olatoye, Prestina Ocho-
nogor, Patience George Okon,
Chioma Onyekwere, Ella On-
ojuvwevwo, Olayinka Olajide,
Justina Tiana Eyakpobeyan,
Olayinka Olajide, Anumba
Ashley, Obiageri Amaechi and
Elo Esther Joseph made the
cut.
The no show men in Benin
City led by Godson Oghene-
brume, is also heading to Cam-
eroon alongside Dubem Amene,
Chidi Okezie, Samuel Ogazi,
Ushoritse Itshekiri, Kanyinso-
la Ajayi, Godfred Charles and
Chukwuebuka Enekwechi.
Amusan said they were going
to Douala to display their talents.
“We are Nigerians, and we
are going to Douala to show that
spirit of ‘we can do it.”
Newly crowned 100m queen,
Ofili said: “I am confident we
will top the medals table in
Douala.”
Long jumper, Ese Brume, also
promised to do her best to ensure
Nigeria finish well in Douala.
Team Nigeria is expected
to leave for Douala, Cameroon
Thursday (today) via Cotonou,
Benin Republic.
The African Senior Athletics
Championships will start on the
21st and end on the 26th of this
month.
