    ALLEGED ATHLETES EXPLOITATION: OYO COMMISSIONER READS RIOT ACT TO COACHES

    ALLEGED ATHLETES EXPLOITATION: OYO COMMISSIONER READS RIOT ACT TO COACHES

     

    The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke has decried the unwholesome act of some Coaches that are exploiting the Athletes in Oyo State.

     

    The Commissioner expressed her displeasure on Monday during a meeting organised for the Management Staff, Sport Officers and Coaches at the Mainbowl of Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

     

    Hon. Wasilat Adegoke remarked further that punitive measures will be taken against erring Coaches that are taken undue advantage of the innocent Athletes, adding that the Ministry will not hesitate to penalise them accordingly.

     

    While addressing the Stakeholders at the Sports Complex, She admonish them to inculcate discipline in their Athletes and ensure that they exhibit exemplary leadership qualities that will be of immense help to mould the lives of the Athletes.

     

    The Commissioner enjoined the Coaches to intensify their efforts on vigorous training of their Athletes in various Sports to ensure that they excel  in the Forthcoming National Youth Games that is scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State from 10th – 20th September, 2024.

     

    She cautioned that the workers need to be security conscious to prevent hoodlums and miscreants that are constituting nuisance within the Stadium stressing that Government  will soon embark on strategies to fortify the Security Network of the Stadium.

     

    The Commissioner, as confirmed to newsmen by the acting general manager of the Sports Council, Tunde Ajibike however, pledged on behalf of the Oyo State Government that Sport’s Equipments will be provided to meet the needs of the Athletes before the year runs out.a
