Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, Governor of Benue State has sacked the Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mimi Orubibi-Adzape and appointed Emmanuel Agema to serve as Chairman in her stead.
Governor Alia who implored Agema to place the state first at all times, also urged the new BIRS boss to be innovative in order to explore every legitimate means of increasing the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
In a statement signed and made available to SportsDay in Makurdi on Friday, Sir Kula Tersoo, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Alia said the appointment is with immediate effect.
The statement read in part “The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has approved the appointment of Emmanuel Terlumun Agema as Ag Chairman, BIRS.
“He is to take over from Mrs. Mimi Orubibi-Adzape who has just been relieved of her appointment by the Governor.
“Agema, an Associate Member, Chartered Taxation of Nigeria, until this appointment was Assistant Director Taxes, and was head of North Bank office of the agency.”
Governor Alia who further directed the new BIRS chairman to assume duty with immediate effect, charged Agema on strict adherence to discipline and accountability.
In a similar vein, Governor Alia has also appointed Dr Jerome Andohol as the Acting Director General (DG), Benue State Planning Commission.
Alia who approved the appointment also charged Andohol, an Associate Professor of Economics at the Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi to serve the people of the state diligently, even as he directed the DG to assume duty with immediate effect.
According to the statement, Andohol who had earlier worked at the Benue State House of Assembly, also had a stint at the Benue State Planning Commission. Until his appointment, the DG was a lecturer of Economics at BSU, Makurdi. End
