Alexandre Lacazette’s has confirmed that his final match for Lyon will be this weekend.
According to Lyon’s manager Paulo Fonseca, Lacazette will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season. His last game will be against SCO Angers on Saturday, May 17.
Fonseca praised Lacazette, saying, “He has done magnificent things for the club. He’s a great professional, I loved working with him.”
Lacazette has played 390 matches for Lyon, scoring 199 goals, and will likely aim to reach 200 goals in his final appearance .
Lacazette’s departure from Lyon marks the end of an era for the club,as the French striker has played a key role in driving Lyon from a relegation battle to a UEFA Europa League qualification spot last season.
This season, he has netted 17 goals in 41 games.
With his contract expiring, Lacazette will become a free agent, clubs like PSG have shown interest in him in the past, although no recent negotiations have taken place .
In 14 years, Alexandre Lacazette appeared in 296 games. Scored 159 goals.
