Chelsea has confirmed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentinian winger’s £40million move from Manchester United was confirmed hours after the Blues’ 2-0 win over Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club,” Garnacho said.
“I can’t wait to get started. I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world!
“It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.”
Garnacho signed a deal through to 2032 and he could make his Blues debut against Brentford on September 13.
For United, the sale of the Argentinian marks the club’s biggest for an academy graduate.
They also inserted a ten per cent sell-on clause into the deal.
Despite the addition of Garnacho, Chelsea are already looking to further strengthen their attacking unit.
Chelsea have made a €40m (£34.6m) offer for Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez, sources revealed.
Efforts have been made all week by the Blues to achieve player buy-in from Lopez, with the 22-year-old considering his future at the Spanish giants.
Barcelona are yet to respond to Chelsea’s bid.
Lopez spent six years in Barcelona’s fabled La Masia academy before he made his first team debut in August 2023.
In his first two seasons with Barcelona’s first team, Lopez registered 19 goals and 11 assists from 88 appearances across all competitions.
