Akwuegbu Appointed PFAN Chairman Plateau State Chapter

Former Super Eagles striker, Benedict Akwuegbu has been appointed the Caretaker Committee chairman of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) Plateau state chapter. was communicated in a letter by its President, Comrade Tijani Babangida dated February 10, 2025 and signed by their General Secretary, Austin Godwin Fuludu.It read: “this is to confirm to you Comrade Benedict Akwuegbu that you have been appointed as Caretaker Committee chairman of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) PLATEAU State Chapter by the President, Comrade Tijani Babangida (MON) effective 10th February, 2005, for a period not exceeding a period of two years, until formal elections are held in the Plateau state.

Meanwhile, 11 others were also listed on the Caretaker Committee Board to work with Akwuegbu in the state with the charge to hold PFAN values to the highest esteem.

“You will act with the under listed officials and hold the PFAN ideals to the highest esteem, the letter stated.
Peter Langeret will act as the Secretary of the committee while Msangeladn Gele and Sambo Choji will be first and second Vice Chairman respectively.

Kelechi Okoye will serve as
-Protocol officer with Sam Pam as Welfare.
Mohammed Jafaru is appointed as the Committee PRO while John Fashsabo, Martha Chaji and Blessing Yusuf will serve as Coordinator.one and Coordinators respectively
Danjuma Isandu and Victor Wikandson are listed as members .

The President has the right to revoke the appointment without notice. Congratulations to you and your team” the letter concluded.
Akwuegbu is also the consultant on Sports to the Plateau state governor, Caleb Muftwang with his primary assignment with Plateau united.
He holds a first degree BSc Hons in Nursing (Mental Health) and now studying his Masters in the same discipline at the Anglia Ruskin University, London.
