Track Queen, Tobiloba Amusan, Ese Brume, Consider Ekanem top list of athletes to represent Nigeria at the ongoing Africa Games in Accra Ghana.
The Athletics Federation of
Nigeria (AFN) technical
department has officially released the final list
of athletes to represent Nigeria in Ghana.
They include : World 100mh
champion and record holder
(12:12) Tobiloba Amusan, Consider Ekanem, long jump prodigy
Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro and 46
others.
They would compete in 25
events, namely 100/200m, Relays,
Shot put, others.
The list also contains 12 officials which comprised of coaches
led by the federation’s President
Chief Tonobok Okowa. It was
signed by the technical director
Samuel Onikeku.
For the 200m/4x100m events
are: Olagide Olayinka, Blessing
Ogundiran, Justina Eyakpobeyan, Abinueaswa Morehan, Onyebuchi Chisom, and Amusan
Tobiloba.
For 400m/4X400m events are:
Patience Okon George, Esther Elo
Joseph, Brittany Ogunmokun,
Okon Esther, Saibu Yetunde, and
Ogunmakin Omolara.
800m event has only Comfort
Anietie while Amusan Tobiloba,
Faith Osamuyi and Stella Ayanleke would compete in the 100m
Hurdles.
Ronke Akambi will compete
in the 1500m and 3,000m Steeple
Chase event, Ewa Peace will
compete in the High Jump event
Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro and
Pristina Ochonogor would compete in the Long Jump event and
Ruth Usoro the only athlete in the
Tripple Jump event.
Sade Olatoye will compete in
the Shot Put and Hammer events
while Chioma Onyekere, Ashley
Anumba and Obiageli would compete in the Discus event. Javelin
has Victoria Kparika while Kemi
Petersen will compete in the Heptathlon event.
Consider Ekanem, Itshekiri Ushortise, Okon Israel, Seye
Ogunlewe, Alaba Akintola, Adegoke Enoch and Adekalu Fakorede would all compete in the
100m/200m and 4X100m events.
For the 400m/4X400m events
are: Dubem Nwachukwu, Nathaniel Ezekiel, Chidi Okezie,
Sikiru Adeyemi, Nathaniel
Ezekiel, Ojeli Ifeanyi and Daniel
Atinaya while Ibadin Edise will
compete in the 800m event. Hamid
Sambo and Musa Great Wisdom
would compete in the 1, 500m and
110m Hurdles event respectively.
400m Hurdles are: Nathaniel
Ezekiel and Nathaniel Samson;
Adamu Shehu Mu’azu for Half
Marathon; Fiaku Goodluck for
High Jump; Njoku Emmanuel
for Long Jump and Chukwuebuka Cornell and Emeka Agwu for
Shot Put events. Samuel Kure and
Nnamdi Chinwecherem would
compete in the Javelin event.
The Officials are: Chief Tonobok Okowa (Team Leader);
Samuel Onikeku – Team Coach/
Technical Leader and Teye Endurance.
Other Team Coaches are: Gad
Onumaegbu, Kola Adebayo, Solomon Aliyu, Kayode Yaya, Deji
Aliyu, Mohammed Dabo, Kenneth
Onuaguluchi, Gabriel Okon while
Rita Mosindi is the team secretary
