Nigerian professional boxer Afikun Segun, popularly known as ‘Ijebu’ has publicly called out fellow boxer Alamu Diran, also known as ‘Destiny’ for a long-anticipated showdown in the boxing ring to determine who rules the super welterweight division.

Speaking after recording a second round knockout victory against Abiola Mukaila on Sunday in a boxing show organized by Ufit Box boxing promotions in Lagos, Ijebu revealed that he has been in intensive training since his last fight in November last year, preparing for upcoming bouts and sharpening his skills.

“I have been training since my last fight in November last year ahead of this bout. You know that practice makes perfect, hence thanking God for the victory,” he said.

Ijebu who is also a civil servant with National Identity Management Commission, (NIMC) did not hold back when calling out his fellow boxer Alamu Destiny, who is in same bodyweight with him, stating that both fighters have exchanged words for some time and it is high time to settle the matter professionally in the ring.

“I want to fight Alamu, aka Destiny. We have been trading words all this while, so I want us to settle it inside the boxing ring once and for all. I believe in myself. I will surely overcome him,” he added confidently.

The boxer also expressed his long-term ambitions in the sport, saying he sees himself becoming a major title holder in the next few years if he continues on his current path of dedication and discipline.

Ijebu also took time to appreciate those who have supported and motivated him throughout his career. He specifically mentioned Prince Usman Akanbi hamzat (UAH) chairman ifako ijaiye, mayor(Top gamer media) and Easy Arena Gym for their encouragement and belief in his potential.

Fans are now anticipating a potential clash between Ijebu and Destiny, which could become one of the most talked-about matchups in the local boxing scene in Lagos if officially arranged.
