    AC Moses Adewole Takes Over Oyo/Osun Customs Command From Gambo Iyere Aliyu

    Area Comptroller Moses Wale Adewole has taken over as Acting Customs Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Area Command, promising to build on predecessor Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu’s achievements in revenue generation and anti-smuggling . Adewole outlines priorities like revenue collection, anti-smuggling, and stakeholder engagement in Oyo and Osun States. Following the redeployment of Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Lagos.Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Moses Adewole expressed deep appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, fnipr, psc (+) PhD and the entire Management team for the trust reposed in him. He described the appointment as a call to higher service and pledged to uphold professionalism, integrity, discipline, and teamwork in advancing the mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service. The Acting Controller commended Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu for his exemplary leadership and notable achievements in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and stakeholder engagement. He assured officers and stakeholders that his administration would consolidate the gains recorded and work diligently to surpass existing milestones.Deputy Comptroller Adewole outlined his operational priorities to include enhanced and transparent revenue collection, strengthened anti-smuggling operations through collaboration with sister agencies, continuous capacity building and welfare of officers, improved work ethics and discipline, as well as sustained engagement with traditional institutions, business communities, importers, exporters, and other stakeholders across Oyo and Osun States.

    In his remarks, the outgoing Area Controller, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, described his tenure as fulfilling and impactful, marked by strong collaboration with the governments and people of Oyo and Osun States, effective synergy with sister security agencies, and sustained engagement with traditional rulers within the Command’s area of responsibility.

    Comptroller Aliyu highlighted the Command’s improved revenue performance achieved through enhanced compliance, structured engagement with excise factories, and the deployment of the B’odogwu Unified Customs Management System. He also praised the officers and men of the Command for their professionalism and resilience, which translated into significant anti-smuggling successes and protection of the national economy.

    The outgoing Controller urged his successor to sustain capacity-building initiatives, deepen engagement with border communities, and ensure the completion of the Command’s Corporate Social Responsibility project — the proposed Solar-Powered Healthcare Centre at Iragbiji. The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages and reaffirmed commitment by both officers to service excellence, continuity, and the overall vision of the Nigeria Customs Service.
