    Abuja Court Orders DSS To Allow Emefiele’s Lawyers Have Access To Him

    A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Maitama, has ordered the State Security Service (DSS) to immediately allow lawyers of the detained of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Góvernór, Godwin Emefiele, to have access to him.
     Emefiele, who has been arrested  June 10, is in the DSS detention facility for investigative reasons.
    Emefiele was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu last week.
    The office of the  Secretary to the Government of the Federation said last Friday that the former CBN boss was under investigation.
    However, since his incarceration, his lawyers are claiming that Emefiele has been held incommunicado.
    Justice H. Muazu gave the order upon an oral application by Joseph Daudu (SAN), lawyer to Emefiele.
    The application followed a suit marked FCT/HC/CV/6450/2023, by Emefiele against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, the Director General of the SSS, as well as the Service itself.
    Other lawyers in Emefiele’s legal team are Micheal Aondoka (SAN), B.C. Igwilo, (SAN), A.T. Kehinde (SAN), J.G. Ojeh, Esq, Abduthakeem Labi – Lawal,  Olawale Fatohumda, Esq, Adedayo Adedeji, Onyinye P. James, and Aishetu Isa.
    Justice Muazu in an order sighted said: “It is hereby ordered as follows: The lawyers of the Applicant shall have access to the Applicant immediately, and regularly, at reasonable time, pending the determination of the Application.
    “Hearing is adjourned to 20th June, 2023 by 10:am.
