The Secretary-General of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), Remi Aboderin was celebrated during the recently held Fight Gist Media Award where he was decorated for his unwavering dedication, passion and commitment to promoting and advancing Nigerian boxing and beyond.

His contributions have not only elevated the sport within Nigeria but have also garnered international recognition, inspiring a new generation of boxers. As he accepted the award, Aboderin expressed gratitude for the support of his colleagues in NBBofC and emphasized the importance of unity in achieving greater heights for Nigerian boxing.

He, however, pledged not to rest on his oars until he has seen Nigerian boxing reach its full potential on the global stage. With renewed determination, Aboderin promised to work tirelessly to create more opportunities for aspiring boxers and to enhance the overall infrastructure of the boxing sport in the country.

“The young man who owns Fight Gist is really doing well for the progress of boxing in Nigeria, both amateur and professional, and sincerely he needs to be commended, as he has helped popularize, progress, and promote Nigerian boxing in his own little way through his blog like no one else, and the entire boxing fraternity in Nigeria cannot help but be grateful.”

“I admire his perseverance and vision, and I think he will soon establish himself as a boxing expert in Nigeria and the globe at large. I also commend him for his noteworthy contributions to the advancement of our boxing community,” Aboderin continued,” Aboderin, who also serves as president of the West African Boxing Union (WABU), said in a statement following the event.

By working with promoters, sanctioning bodies, and boxing federations outside of Nigeria, Aboderin has facilitated boxing events that garner international attention and, through his leadership roles, has maintained strong ties with international boxing bodies such as the World Boxing Council (WBC), ensuring that boxing in Nigeria and West Africa meets international standards.
