With the season winding down, Manchester United can finally turn their attention to the summer transfer window. A top-three finish in the Premier League means the Red Devils are heading back to the Champions League next year.
Interim boss Michael Carrick has done enough to impress, and it looks like he’ll get the job full-time. At 44, he’s already said he’s been part of the club’s transfer talks behind the scenes.
One of United’s biggest jobs will be figuring out a long-term plan in midfield, especially with Casemiro aging out of his prime. But defense is also on the radar. Juventus center-back Gleison Bremer has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The 29-year-old just made Brazil’s World Cup squad and has reportedly caught United’s eye, with Liverpool also in the mix.
Reports from Italy suggest Bremer is open to hearing offers. Juventus risk missing out on Champions League football themselves, which could make a sale more likely. Juve do have him locked down until 2029 and his deal includes a £50m release clause, so they’re in a strong position. The club may even try to extend his contract.
For now, Bremer says he’s happy in Turin and has picked up a Coppa Italia since arriving from Torino in 2022. But at this stage of his career, he’s keen to start collecting bigger trophies. He’s made 31 appearances across all competitions this season under Luciano Spalletti and will also head to the World Cup under Carlo Ancelotti with Brazil.
To fund a move for Bremer or other targets, United may have to offload one of their current players first.
