A wave of excitement, belief and anticipation has swept across the Coal City as supporters of Rangers International F.C. prepare for what promises to be a historic final day of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

In a remarkable show of support, the Enugu State Government has approved ten buses to convey fans and supporters of the Flying Antelopes to Lagos ahead of the crucial league clash against Ikorodu City F.C. next weekend.

The development underscores the growing confidence and determination surrounding Rangers’ quest for a record-extending ninth NPFL title as the season reaches a dramatic climax.

The announcement was made on Saturday morning by Rangers General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, during a live appearance on “Sports Sofa”, a popular breakfast sports programme on Prime Sports Radio in Enugu.

According to Ezeaku, the government’s gesture is aimed at ensuring massive fan presence in Lagos as Rangers battle for the league crown in what has become one of the most fiercely contested title races in recent NPFL history.

“We are mobilising our supporters in a special way because this is a very important moment for the club and for the people of Enugu State,” Ezeaku stated during the programme.

He further disclosed that plans are already in motion to rally Ndigbo residents across Lagos to troop out en masse and create a home-away-from-home atmosphere for the Flying Antelopes at the decisive encounter.

The Rangers chief expressed confidence that the passionate support of fans could provide the extra motivation needed for the team to finish the campaign strongly and lift the coveted trophy.

Beyond the final-day showdown, Ezeaku also revealed that a special Dinner Night is being organised in Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of fundraising efforts to support Rangers’ projected campaign in next season’s CAF Champions League.

The event, according to him, is expected to attract football stakeholders, corporate organisations, supporters and prominent sons and daughters of Enugu State, all united by the ambition of restoring Rangers to continental prominence.

The momentum behind the club has also received a significant boost from Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, who recently assured the players and coaching crew of his presence in Lagos for the potentially title-deciding fixture.

Governor Mbah had, during an interaction with the team last week, charged the players to remain focused and finish the season on a victorious note.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Premier Football League has confirmed elaborate arrangements for the final day of the season as uncertainty continues to surround the destination of the title.

The league’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, disclosed on Friday while speaking as a guest on “PlayTime”, a program aired on Prime Sports Radio in Enugu, that the NPFL has concluded plans to position championship trophies simultaneously in Lagos and Port Harcourt due to the intense title battle between Rangers and Rivers United F.C..

“We have reached a decision as the organizing body of the league to make available one trophy each in Lagos and Port Harcourt,” Owumi explained.

“This is because nobody can say for certain whether it is Rangers or Rivers United that will emerge champions. We do not want to be caught unprepared, so we have decided to act appropriately.”

Going into the final round of fixtures, Rangers sit atop the NPFL standings with 65 points, while Rivers United remain just one point behind on 64 points, setting the stage for a nerve-racking finale that could go down as one of the most memorable endings in league history.

For Rangers supporters, however, the mission is clear — conquer Lagos and bring the trophy back to Enugu.
