The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has called on stakeholders in Nigeria’s sports sector to embrace unity and collaboration, urging all to work together for the progress of sports in the country.

In his Christmas message, Hon. Olopade emphasized the importance of setting aside differences and fostering partnerships that will drive the development of Nigerian sports.

“Christmas is a season of love, hope, and unity—a time to come together and reflect on what we can achieve collectively. I urge all stakeholders—athletes, coaches, sports administrators, media, private sector partners, etc —to unite in the spirit of Christmas to strengthen our sports sector and move it forward,” he said.

Hon. Olopade acknowledged the challenges facing sports development in Nigeria but expressed confidence that, through collaboration and a shared vision, the sector can overcome obstacles and achieve greatness. He also underscored the importance of teamwork as preparations continue for major events in 2025, including the 22nd National Sports Festival, scheduled for May.

The DG further reaffirmed the National Sports Commission’s commitment to promoting boosting Nigeria’s sports economy, talent development, creating opportunities for athletes, and using sports as a unifying force for national development.

He concluded by wishing all Nigerians a joyful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, encouraging them to carry the values of unity and goodwill into 2025.

“Together, we can make Nigerian sports a symbol of excellence and unity for the nation,” he added.

Hon. Olopade’s message comes at a time of renewed focus on enhancing the country’s sports ecosystem, with stakeholders gearing up for a year of opportunities and growth in the sector.
