Nigerian Super Falcons have arrived Brisbane in Australia ahead of their opening match at the fast approaching FIFA Women World Cup. This is even as the global football body welcomed the nine times African champions.

Also on hand to welcome them were Nigeria High Commission representative and well-meaning Nigerians.

The Super Falcons departed Gold Coast on Sunday morning where they had camped for two weeks rounding up their preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

At Gold Coast, the team was camped in Mecure Hotels and Resort Center where they trained and played a warm-up match against the Queensland Lions on Saturday.

The Falcons after departure however arrived Brisbane early afternoon on Sunday to the warm embrace of the awaiting FIFA team and the Nigerian community resident in Queensland. The High commission of Nigeria were also duly represented as well as the Igbo community in Brisbane.

The Super Falcons will be camped in Sofitel luxurious hotel for the duration of the tournament. This is the first time that all teams will have a team base camp for logistics and proper planning in the history of the women’s World Cup.

The nine time Africa Champions have Canada, the Olympic Champions, Australia, the co-host and Ireland to contend with in the group stage of the tournament.

The Super Falcons have never missed any edition of the world cup and are expected with the array of players paraded to go past the group stage.
