    8th NYG ‘Asaba 2024 : Team Edo Makes Podium, 3rd Place With 29 Gold,15 Silver,28 Bronze Medals

    8th NYG ‘Asaba 2024 : Team Edo Makes Podium, 3rd Place With 29 Gold,15 Silver,28 Bronze Medals

     

    It was a podium finish for Team Edo at the National Youth Games ‘Asaba 2024’ which ended on Thursday, September 19,2024 after garnering a total of 62 medals; 19 Gold,15 Silver and 28 Bronze medals to place 3rd on the medal table on the last day of event.

    Team Edo with their red and white traditional colours stood in the 3rd position on the podium and received the third best team award and honour during the closing ceremony of the event at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

    The Edo contingent concluded their participation in the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, with an outstanding performance, as their athletics team won the Gold medal in the 400°100M mixed relay. The girls also won Bronze in the 400×400 M Girls relay to end the youth games on high.

    In wrestling, Edo won silver in female event on the final day. they also won kickboxing female, Silver (37 Kg) and Bronze in 55kg.

    In the final medal table released by the local organizing committee on Thursday,team Delta emerged champions for the third consecutive time with a total of 111 medals;46 Gold,31 Silver and 34 Bronze Medals.

    Lagos came second with a total of 65 medals;26 Gold,20 Silver and 19 Bronze.
    Bayelsa,Kwara and Ogun came fourth,gift and sixt respectively.

    Team Ebonyi State is the only side that participated in the competition without any medals for their efforts.
