8 Days to Go: Barça Legends Giuly, Mendieta Confirms for Africa vs Barca Legends Showdown, Transcorp Hilton Signs as Official Hospitality Partner

The countdown is on for one of the year’s most anticipated football spectacles, Barça Legends vs African Legends, as the Champions Cup draws near with just eight days to kick-off on October 25, 2025, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. 

In a fresh boost to the lineup, Barça legend Gaizka Mendieta has confirmed his participation, further elevating the star power for the game. 

Gaizka Mendieta is one of Spain’s most celebrated midfielders of his generation. He rose to prominence during his spell at Valencia CF, helping them to domestic and European success, and later played for Lazio and FC Barcelona. His style combined technical skill, vision, and passing range, earning him recognition among Europe’s elite during his peak years.

Furthermore, Transcorp Hilton Abuja has signed on as the official hospitality partner, in collaboration with event organizers, enhancing the VIP experience for guests during the festivities. 

Beyond the action on the pitch, the event will host attractions including a Legends Meet & Greet, a Gala Dinner, and entertainment segments for fans and guests.

The Champions Cup is also supporting initiatives around girl-child empowerment.
