Reigning Champions, Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu were yesterday held to a thrilling goalless draw, by Enyimba FC of Aba, in their re-arranged Matchday 15 encounter of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), played on Tuesday, in Aba.
The match which was originally scheduled for Sunday, was pushed forward by 48 hours, at the instance of Enyimba FC, who were on their way back to Aba, after a 0-2 Group D defeat, away to Al Masry of Egypt, on Day-1 of 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup.
Although the eagerly anticipated Oriental Derby failed to yield any goals; Rangers were surely the happier side, having extented their unbeaten run to eight matches.
The point earned also meant that Flying Antelopes are now 4th on the NPFL log, with 24 points – 5 points off the pace of Rivers United, the table toppers.
The Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu side are also 3 points ahead of the Aba People’s Elephant, who are on 21 points, but have got two games in hand.
Next for Rangers is a gigantic face-off against an unrelenting Rivers United FC, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, aka the Cathedral, this weekend.
