The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), through Austin Eguaveon, the technical director of the football house, has said he is optimistic of the chances of the Super Falcons at the fast-approaching 2023 Women World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The optimism is coming amidst some issues rocking the nine times African champions.

The Super Falcons will begin their campaign in the competition when they face the Olympic champion Canada in the opening group game.

“I’m very optimistic that they will perform well.

“The first game is always very important, the first game will determine how far we will go.

“Because if anything goes wrong in the first game, then the team becomes jittery, but with the quality of players we have. I think they are good enough to handle any kind of pressure and I’m looking at a very good performance”, he told reporters.

Super Falcons are one of the few teams that has not missed any of the women’s World Cup since its inception in 1991.
