    Women W’Cup: Denmark Leaves It Late To Beat China

    Denmark on Saturday left it late to defeat China 1-0 in Group D at the Perth Rectangular Stadium of the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women World Cup ongoing in New Zealand and Denmark.

    Paris Saint Germaine forward, Amalie Vangsgaard, who came in from the bench in the 85th minute got a lob from D. Harder which was floated into the box and headed it home in the 89th minute. VAR checked whether there was an offside or interference with the play before approving the goal.

    England had in the first group D game played earlier narrowly beaten debutante Haiti by a lone goal.

    China is in their 8th appearance where the team took Norway to the slaughter slab with a 5-0 win in the semifinal but at that final match at the Rose Bowl, USA before 90,185 fans lost via penalty 4-5 after a goalless full time.

    China made 4th place at losing 0-2 to USA in 3rd Place match; got into the quarters in 1991; 2003 and 2015 with a Round of 16 appearance last Sweden 85 competition at the in 2019.

    Denmark is in their 5th appearance and had when two quarterfinal outings t China 1991 where she lost to Germany 1-2 after Extra Time and Sweden 1995 she lost to Norway 1-3.

    The second round matches of this group will be played on Friday 28th July with England versus Denmark at 0930 hours and China versus Haiti at 12 noon. The last group matches will be played simultaneously on Tuesday 1st August as China takes on England and Haiti plays Denmark.

    On Sunday 23rd July, Sweden versus South Africa at 0600 hours; Netherlands versus Portugal at 0830 hours and France versus Jamaica at 1100 hours Nigerian time.
