Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets put up a great show Saturday night, coming twice from behind to beat South Africa  3-2 in a Group B encounter of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria.

What a group that almost have a photo finish as Zambia also came from a goal behind to beat Morocco.

Nigeria and Morocco, therefore, ended the group with six points apiece. But it is Morocco that emerges leader on the head-to-head rule.

Abubakar Abdullahi was the hero of the night after he scored the decisive winner to give Nigeria a 3-2 win in Constantine.

Charles Agada and Light Eke were the other scorers on the night for Nigeria as Eaglets’ quest for a third AFCON title stays alive in Algeria.

South Africa took a shock lead twice with Nigeria forced to come from behind twice to equalise before Abdullahi wrapped up the win for the Eaglets.

Nigeria thus qualified for the quarterfinal and will play runners-up in Group C. Group C has the trio of Mali,  Cameroon and Burkina Faso who will play their final group matches later today to determine the two teams that qualify.

The four semi-finalists will book their tickets for the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup taking place in November with the host country yet to be determined after Peru was stripped of the right.
