Tottenham Eye Barcelona’s Kessie As Replacement For Hojbjerg

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing Barcelona star Franck Kessie this summer if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were to leave, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti on Twitter.

The Denmark international could part ways with the North London side in the ongoing transfer window. Spurs are open to parting ways with the midfielder in the coming weeks.

To that end, Atletico Madrid are interested in getting a hold of the 27-year-old’s signature. If the Lilywhites receive a suitable offer from Los Rojiblancos, they will sell him.

Thus, Tottenham have a list of potential options to replace Hojbjerg. Kessie is one of the names on their radar. However, it remains to be seen whether we will be able to acquire his services from the Blaugrana.

Barcelona signed the Ivory Coast international as a free agent last summer. Prior to that, the midfielder developed and showcased his qualities at AC Milan. The 26-year-old established himself as a world-class talent at the San Siro side.

However, Kessie has found game time hard to come by at the Blaugrana. The Spanish giants have an abundance of talent in the middle of the park with the likes of Pedri, Gavi and Frenkie de Jong. They have also added former Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan to their ranks recently.

Xavi has a host of options to choose from in the engine room. As a result, in the previous campaign, while the Ivorian made 43 appearances in all competitions, most of them were off the bench. He started in just seven league games.

Hojbjerg has been a key player for Tottenham over the years. The Danish national was pivotal to the little success we had last season. Therefore, the North London side will evidently need to add quality in the midfield if he does leave.
