Szoboszlai Credits Liverpool Move To Klopp

New Liverpool signing Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed a phone call with Jurgen Klopp was crucial to the Hungarian choosing Anfield as his next destination.

Szoboszlai completed a £60m move to the Reds over the weekend with Sky Sports News understanding that Newcastle were also interested in the midfielder.

But the 22-year-old says Liverpool’s manager swayed his choice over his next club.

“Klopp? Yes, he called me — it’s true. I said: ok, this is going to be a very good thing. Everything was perfect”.

Liverpool have announced the signing Dominik Szoboszlai, subject to a work permit.

The fee is understood to be £60m – which required the triggering of a release clause in his contract at RB Leipzig.

The Hungary international has also signed a five-year contract until 2028.

Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch has admitted he will push for an exit from Bayern Munich if Thomas Tuchel cannot guarantee him more game time next season.

“I just want to play more, preferably at Bayern,” Gravenberch told De Telegraaf.

“Otherwise at a club where I’ll 100% play. That’s my preference. I don’t want to have another year like the one I’ve just had. I really learned a lot from it. But I just want to play football.

“I haven’t really spoken to the coach (Tuchel) about that yet, that will happen after the Euros when I’m back from Georgia and Romania. Then we’ll see how things are.”
