Barring a huge turnaround, Josh Maja, at the end of his contract, will not continue his adventure in Bordeaux. While he had in his hands a one-year extension offer (plus an optional year in the event of a rise) for several weeks, the 24-year-old striker had reserved his response.

The deadline set by the Girondins has now passed, and for lack of response from the Nigerian international, Bordeaux club now considers that the file is closed. The Girondins will now turn to other avenues at the center forward position.

Maja’a contract with the French second-tier side ended on the 30th of June, 2023 and is now a free agent.

The one-cap Nigerian International joined the Girondins in 2019 on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Sunderland.

Maja had scored 16 goals last season in Ligue 2. He would have several touches in the Championship, but also in Spain, where Alavés and Real Valladolid would have requested him. In France, Reims and Brest would also be interested in his profile.
