Sierra Leone Game Exposed Peseiro’s Technical Flaws – Ex-Eagle

A former Super Eagles player who is among the golden generation of the team has said that despite the fact that Coach Jose Peseiro had done well by qualifying Nigeria for the 2023 Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, their match-day five against Sierra Leone in Monrovia exposed his technical flaws.

The player who declined being mentioned came down hard on the coach and believed that the Nigeria Football Federation would likely shove the Portuguese aside as the last match exposed how technically deficient he is.

Recall that the Portuguese tactician has come under heavy criticisms despite Nigeria’s qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nation.

Statistically, Peseiro has lost more games than he has won – five losses, four wins – and the Eagles are still not playing the beautiful football Nigerians crave for, the same reason his predecessor Rohr was booted out.

However, in a chat with with an online medium, the ex-international stated that Peseiro might have done well to qualify the team to the Nations Cup but it appeared he may not lead Nigeria to glory despite his repeated boast that he would win the next AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

“There is no doubt that the Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, has done a good job by qualifying the team to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

“However, that may not be enough to save his managerial job considering the fact that the team has not been playing impressing football.

“Besides, the game against Sierra Leone also exposed his tactical and technical inability to read the game and to make quality substitution that will have positive effect on the team.

“I have this feelings the NFF may have seen enough of him and may not want to extend his contract.”
