Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien on his 99th birthday.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, which was made available to journalists on Friday, Oborevwori described Prof. Edozien as a distinguished medical scholar and Nigeria’s first Professor of Physiology.
He remarked that since his ascension to the throne in 1991 as the 13th Asagba of Asaba, Obi Edozien had continued to provide purposeful leadership for his people and residents of Asaba, the state capital.
The governor noted that under the Asagba’s reign, Asaba has since become one of the fastest growing cities in the country in terms of population and development in infrastructure.
Oborevwori commended the respected monarch for his astute contributions to making Asaba comfortable and hospitable for Nigerians, who troop into the Delta State capital for one business or the other.
He said that at 99, Professor Edozien deserves to be celebrated for attaining such an enviable and impactful age.
While joining the royal family and entire people of Asaba at home and in the Diaspora to felicitate the centenarian monarch on the landmark in his journey of life, Oborevwori affirmed that the Asagba remained an “iconic scholar per excellence, bridge-builder and oldest living professor in any discipline”.
Oborevwori prayed that God would continue to bless the monach with great wisdom, good health and strength to continue to lead the people of his kingdom.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I joyfully celebrate with His Royal Majesty, Obi Professor Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR, the Asagba of Asaba, on the occasion of his 99th birthday.
“As we look forward to the centenary celebration, we pray that the Almighty God will continue to grant you more wisdom and divine health to continue serving mankind,” the governor stated.
