President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has congratulated Nigerians on the Super Eagles’ impressive performance so far at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, calling for continued national support as the team pushes for a historic fourth continental title.

Gusau praised the players, technical crew and support staff for their discipline, unity and determination for their performance so far, while urging them not to rest on their oars until they win the trophy for the fourth time for country. The Super Eagles defeated the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia by three goals to two on Saturday to qualify for the Round of 16, they had earlier defeated Tanzania by two goals to one on Tuesday to have a hundred percent results with one match against Uganda at hand. Gusau noted that their displays a renewed sense of purpose within the squad.

“The Super Eagles have shown character, resilience and a strong winning mentality,” the NFF president said. “They are making Nigerians proud, and this is a moment for the entire nation to stand firmly behind the team.”

He emphasized that support from fans at home and in the diaspora remains crucial as the competition enters decisive stages. According to Gusau, the players draw significant motivation from the belief and encouragement of Nigerians, whether in the stadiums in Morocco or through messages and prayers from across the world.

Gusau also reiterated the support of the Federal Government to the team and expressed the federation’s confidence in the team’s ability to go all the way and lift the AFCON trophy for the fourth time, following previous triumphs in 1980, 1994 and 2013.

“We have the talent, the focus and the backing of a football-loving nation,” he added. “I urge Nigerians to continue supporting the Super Eagles until the very end, as we strive to bring the trophy back home.”

The Super Eagles are bidding to add a fourth AFCON title to Nigeria’s rich football history, with expectations high as the team continues its campaign in Morocco.
