It’s stated that the deal has now ‘moved a significant step closer’ after fresh talks between Newcastle and Leicester.
The move has been ramped up this week and it’s now claimed that a deal worth £35million could be in place soon.
Barnes is believed to be Eddie Howe’s top target after snapping up midfielder Sandro Tonali earlier this month.
Barnes is keen on the move after Leicester’s relegation and it looks like Newcastle will get their man.
The report claims that Newcastle actually wanted to sign Barnes last summer but were quoted £50million.
The Foxes have now gone down and Newcastle are benefiting, securing a £15million reduction.
This will feel like a bargain for Newcastle after Barnes racked up 13 goals in 34 Premier League games last season.
Barnes is still only 25 too and should give Newcastle another goal threat for years to come.
