The Maritme Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), under its President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, congratulates the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, H.E  Adegboyega Oyetola for Nigeria’s successful election into the International Maritime Organization (IMO) category ‘C’ council seat; describing it as a landmark achievement for Nigeria and its maritme sector.

The PG of MWUN says the Minister has indeed made the country proud by winning Nigeria into one of the seats of the IMO, projecting the country amongst comity of maritme nations across the globe. Comrade Bunu, applauded H.E Oyetola’s giant feat, saying that the huge success couldn’t have come on a platter of gold but for hardwork, commitment, and foresight, by putting up a vigorous Inter-rministeral campaign committee force, with strategic and comprehensive ideology to surpass the outings of both 2011 and 2019 to achieve this.

The foremost Maritme Labour leader in the country also showered praises on the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho for his zeal, commitment in the maritme sector, saying his efforts complimented Minister Oyetola’s achievement in the IMO, noting that if all the maritme sector’s regulating agencies could work in this synergy, the sky will not only be the limit for the maritme industry.

The Veteran Sailor and Astute Maritme administrator, Com. Bunu, further hailed Hon. Oyetola for his vast knowledge of the marine and blue economy ministry, where he has surpassed everyone’s expectations. This one achievement for Nigeria in the IMO has put Nigeria on a positive spotlight of the global maritme world; thereby raising the country’s maritme sector standard
