The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has reached a milestone agreement with Melsmore Ltd, a shipping company based in Victoria Island, Lagos. The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) was signed recently, marking a significant achievement for the union and its workers.
MWUN President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu, has expressed his gratitude to the Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, for his instrumental role in facilitating the agreement. Comrade Bunu described Dr. Mobereola as a thorough, proactive, and committed leader who has made a significant impact on the maritime industry.
The CBA outlines the terms and conditions of employment for MWUN workers at Melsmore Ltd, ensuring they receive fair treatment and benefits. The agreement is a testament to the strong relationship between NIMASA, MWUN, and Melsmore Ltd, and demonstrates the commitment of all parties to maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment.
Comrade Bunu praised Dr. Mobereola for his courage and leadership in ensuring a fair deal for both parties. He also thanked the management of Melsmore Ltd for their willingness to listen to the union’s concerns and work towards a mutually beneficial agreement.
