These are indeed bad times for the Nigeria football community, as it was rocked again by the devastating news of the passing of legendary Super Eagles star player, Henry Nwosu, at the age of 62 years.

One of the major stakeholders of Nigeria sports, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, described the death of the former Super Eagles captain as unfortunate and painful.

Speaking from Lyon, France, Kida, who is President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, regretted that the former NNB and ACB star, died few days after the death of former Super Eagles coach Festus Onigbinde.

Kida, who is also the Chairman of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, described the death of Nwosu, as untimely, stating that he died ‘too young’.

“I believe that late Henry Nwosu died too young, because athletes are supposed to enjoy a heathy and long life. However, this is life and Allah giveth and taketh,” he remarked.

Kida, who was a former goalkeeper during his secondary school days before the love for basketball took over, recalled with fond memories that Nwosu, was such a skillful and very intelligent player, who was always a nightmare to the oppositions.

The highly regarded NBBF boss, prayed that God in His infinite mercies, grant the soul of the decease rest, and give his family, friends and particularly, the Nigerian and African football community, the strength and fortitude to bear this huge loss.
