Igbo-ukwu will Witness Another Clash of the Titans as IDU Onitsha Battle Lagos Branch In Super 4 Final

A potential Igbo-ukwu Premier League classic, is on the card, as the two most recent champions of the tournament, Igbo-ukwu Development Union (IDU) Lagos Branch (2024), and IDU Onitsha Branch (2025); will clash again, but this time, it will be in the final, of the IPL Super 4 final, today.

2024 winners, IDU Lagos Branch were dethroned only a few days ago, by IDU Onitsha Branch, who won their semifinals 1-Nil, and went on to be crowned, as kings of the 2025 Premier League, on New Year day.

But with the Premier League done and dusted, attention in the ever busy sporting calendar of Igbo-ukwu community, is now turned to the Super 4; which is a straight knockout competition, involving only the four semifinalists, of the league.

In the playoffs played on January 3 2026, at the Holy Trinity play ground in Igbo-ukwu , IDU Lagos Branch walked over 2025 beaten finalists, Pelwin Global FC; while IDU Onitsha Branch trounced home-boys, Nwaezefunamba FC of Igbo-ukwu 4-1 to reach the Super 4 final.

The final today is therefore seen by many, as a must-watch, given the fact that the reigning Premier League champions, Onitsha Branch, only a few days ago inflicted an unlikely defeat on the more fancied Lagos Branch, who are still licking their wounds, but now have an early oppurtunity, to avenge that painful loss.

The game, also provides IDU Onitsha Branch, the opportunity, to reassert their supremacy, as the dominant team of 2025, and undisputed champions.

The final and battle of who wins IPL Super 4, powered by Nze Ezeugo Okenwa Okanmuta Greg Ezeilo, is scheduled to kick-off at 3:30pm, this afternoon, and promises the same thrills and frills, that charactized the final of the mother league, if not more.
