Coach Finidi George of Enyimba has called on the Interim Management Company (IMC) to see it as necessary to introduce technology to aid the performance of officials during Nigeria Premier League matches.
Finidi, while commending the country’s football referees and their assistants for a good job done during the abridge league season, said more needed to be done as regards officiating.
“It’s been good this season, as teams picked points on the road but overall more still needs to be done.
“I think with the help of the Video Assistant Referees (VAR), it will make things easier for the match officials.”
On the People’s Elephants’ chances of the title or a CAF inter-club spot for next season and the playoff matches timing.
“We have depth in the Enyimba squad, and with players that can easily fill in the gap when necessary and give their best.
“We plan to rotate the starting lineup in each match, so we’re not quite worried about play-off fixtures, which see teams have only 24 hours.
“I fancy our chances to clinch the title or a ticket from the playoff..
“I feel they didn’t do enough as they should have done better in that goal from a set-piece. It’s a mini-tournament and we hope to get better.”
Meanwhile, after enduring match-day one draw against Remo Stars, Enyimba International of Aba got their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 6 to a proper start as they defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 on Monday at Mobolaji Johnson Arena (Onikan Stadium).

Enyimba’s goal came in the 16th minutes when Obioma Chukwuemeka nodded into an open net, after Lobi’s goalkeeper had miss timed a throwing in.
Reacting to the victory, George expressed satisfaction on the performance of his team, saying the result would go a long way to motivate the boys in subsequent matches.
In his reaction, his counterpart in Lobi Stars, Baba Ganaru, expressed his disappointment over the performance of his team in the match. He rued the missed chance that his team had, promising a better outing on Wednesday against Rivers United, while Enyimba will play the revelation of 2023 NPFL Season, Bendel Insurance of Benin.
