It was a mood of celebration at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin on Monday as Edo State sports Commission’s Bolade Bezi made history, settling a new world record in ESports after playing for a total time, including a rest period of 57 hours,10 minutes and 5 seconds.
The total actual play time recorded for Bezi BOLADE is 49 hours 0 minutes and 14 seconds in the video game series ‘God of War’ marathon, the game she began on Friday.
She broke the old record of Peer Bresser and Jimmie Smets (both are Germans) on the set of Pro7 Games, in Cologne, Germany, on 8th-9th, November 2017.
Before the historical event at the Media Center of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city,the longest videogame marathon on a hack-and-slash game was 24 hours, 25 minutes, 00 seconds, and was achieved by Peer Bresser and Jimmie Smets (both are Germans) on the set of Pro7 Games, in Cologne, Germany, on 8th-9th, November 2017.
Bolade Bezi prepared for 48-hour marathon “God of War” video game series in her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record and successfully surpassed the time and set a new record in Benin city,Edo State.
In a chat with Sports journalists at the stadium after the event, Bolade Bezi, a gamer under the Edo State Esports Association said she felt fulfilled after undertaking a rigorous path to Guinness world record for the longest video game marathon a hack-and-slash game.According to Bolade, a clinical physiologist ,she made the world record attempts to raise awareness for mental health in relation to depression and anxiety which are the two prevalent mental disorders in modern societies.
She expressed her appreciation for the support she got from the Edo ESports association and the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele.
” It was a challenge I prepared for mentally and physically, knowing that sleep is the major obstacle. I thank God and Edo ESports association for making it possible for me to achieve my set goal. ESports is new in Edo state and we are using this opportunity to announce our presence.” She said.
The chairman of Edo Esport Association Ovebedaro Dean Bezi and the Secretary, Mrs. Ikerebe Peace Karlsson were excited over the achievement of Bolade, saying that the world record is a better way to announce the presence of ESports in Edo state.
Ovebedaro congratulated Bolade, also lauding the Edo State Sports Commission for their support.
