The newly inaugurated Edo state sports Commission Board led by Hon Desmond Enabulele on Friday play host to the Edo state Football Association members at the commission secretariat situated at the Samuel ogbemudia stadium, Benin City.
Welcoming the Fred Newton Erhunmwunse Led Board of the Edo FA, Hon Desmond Enabulele acknowledged that Edo FA is the first Association to visit the commision since the Board was inaugurated, He reiterated that the commissions mandate is to develop Sports in the state, but however expressed his disappointment on the performance of Bendel insurance Fc in the Nigeria top Flight football league( NPFL) while promising the commissions resolve to ensure that the team bounce back to reckoning, He emphasize on the need for synergy to turn things around for the better and call for subsequent meetings to follow up discussions.
Earlier, Edo FA chairman Fred Newton Erhunmwunse while congratulating the chairman and members of the commission on the new task, introduced his Board members to the to chairman, and stated they came to familiarise with the new leadership of the commission and strengthen work ties. The FA boss emphasized the importance of collaborating with the FA and appealed for support from the sports Commission, he promised that the apex Football body in the state will work closely with the new Board of the commission.
Meanwhile, a Board member of the sports Commission and former super Eagles winger, Baldwin Bazuaye( MON) highlighted that Football is a unifying factor and stated that the commission is committed to supporting the Edo state Football Association to carry out its functions. He disclose that the commission is open to suggestions that will help improve sports development in the state and addressed concerns about the stadium culture including dress code.
In his reaction, head coach of the Edo state Football Association, Pastor Osayomonre Aghahowa urged the commission to be transparent and build a shield against dishonesty.
The visit by the Edo state Football Association was rounded up with the presentation of souvenir to the chairman Edo state sports Commission by Fred Newton Erhunmwunse.
