Newly crowned Igbo-ukwu Premier League champions, IDU Onitsha Branch on Sunday, asserted themselves,as the undisputed kings of the round leather game, in the Igbo-ukwu Community, of Anambra state, by also scooping the prestigious Ezeugo Okenwa Super 4 Cup.

IDU Onitsha achieved the feat, by again defeating arch rivals, IDU Lagos Branch by 2 goals to nothing, in the final, played at the Holy Trinity football ground, in the ancient city of Igbo-ukwu.

Having met earlier in the semifinals of the Premier League, with Onitsha Branch edging Lagos Branch in a closely faught game, the stage was set for highly intense, and enthralling game; and it didn’t, disappoint as fans and dignitaries watched on.

Chike Ezemuoka (Maluda) scored the first goal just before halftime, while the second goal was scored 15 minutes after the break, through Sunday Onyekaonwu who sealed the historic win, emphatically.

For the rest of the final, every effort and pressure mounted by the Lagos Branch, as they sought to halve the deficit, and possibly level the scores, was met by a defensive brick wall, of Onittsha Branch, who eventually strolled to the end of the 90 minutes, comfortably and unscathed.

Presenting the trophy, sponsor of the Super 4, Nze Ezeugo Okenwa Okanmuta Greg Ezeilo, who was represented by Mr. Thaddeus Nwangwu congratulated IDU Onitsha Branch for the victory in both the Super 4 and the Igbo-ukwu Premier League. He also praised players of Lagos Branch for playing a good game and fighting till the very end of the encounter.

With this result, the Igbo-ukwu Football Association has officially ended the 2025 Sports calendar, and according to Edochie Nkannebe, the Chief Scribe of the IFA, the programme of activities for the 2026 calendar year, is being finalized, and will be unveiled to the public soon.
