With just 12 days to go until the highly anticipated PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon, excitement continues to build as top-ranking officials from the global athletics community arrive in Nigeria’s capital to assess final preparations for the race.

Leading the delegation is Nadeem Khan, President of the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU), whose presence underscores the growing international stature of the Abuja City Half Marathon. Khan’s visit signals strong confidence in Nigeria’s capacity to host world-class road races and reinforces Abuja’s rising profile as a premier destination for elite endurance events.

Joining him is El Siddig Ahmed Ibrahim Khalifa, the Technical Delegate of the World Athletics Road Race Commission. Khalifa’s role is critical as he evaluates the technical readiness of the course, safety protocols, organizational standards, and compliance with World Athletics regulations. His arrival marks a significant step toward securing continued global recognition and accreditation for the event.

The presence of these distinguished officials further validates the organisational excellence behind the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City Half Marathon and highlights Nigeria’s expanding influence in international athletics. Their inspection will also ensure that runners, both elite and recreational enjoy a top-tier racing experience on December 5.

As the countdown intensifies, the Local Organizing Committee continues to fine-tune logistics, security, hydration points, volunteer coordination, and medical support to deliver a seamless event that meets global best practices.

The PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City Half Marathon is set to attract thousands of participants from within and outside Nigeria, reinforcing Abuja’s position as a thriving hub for sports tourism and athletic excellence.
